Israel bought the subs in order to show Iran that it has a nuclear counter-strike ability if Iran attempts to nuke Israel.
Basically, we have entered an arms race between America/Israel; & Iran, NKorea and Syria -- not to mention Pakistan and China.
The problem I see is that because Israel is so small...a single nuke can destroy the entire country.
If your typical arab psycho gets ahold of a nuclear bomb, say HEZBOLLAH for example, they can nuke Israel and they would be completely un-attackable since Israel can't turn around and nuke Lebanon - especially after how poorly the war with Hezbollah allready went.
Iran is going to get their reactor online if we don't destroy it and after that the ball game is over for Israel.
I PRAY TO GOD Israel wakes up and uses air power to destroy Iranian nuclear technology before its too late. They did the same thing to Saddam's, OSIRAK reactor back in 81'.
If Israel is destroyed, it will be a victory for arabs and muslims and racist white neonazis everywhere. what's left of Israel simply couldn't attack everybody!
They'd be defeated and destroyed and the entire Middle East would be celebrating.

I am not on either side of this issue but here are the facts as I see them. Israel has had nukes for many years and has never had the goal of wiping its neighbors off the map. Iran and others have clearly stated that that is their goal for Israel. If Israel wanted to nuke its neighbors it could have done it at any time but they are likely there as a defensive deturent. If iran was able to hit israel with a nuke or two, nuclear subs would assure that Iran would be destroyed as a result. That is why they bought the subs at this time. By the way, if they start lobbing nukes at each other the resulting radiation would likely cause lots of poisonous effects around the globe. Not to mention that China and the US would be bound to get invoved to protect their interests and poof, the world goes up like lighting a match.
That is a good reason for Iran not to have them in my opinion. They might actually use them and then we are all screwed.
Still feel like its ok for eveyone to have nukes? Sleep Tight.

In the 1950s and early 1960s, France and Israel had very close relations. France was Israel's principal arms supplier. On 2 December 1960, before Israel could make the announcement, the US State Department issued a determination that Israel had a secret nuclear installation. By 16 December this became public knowledge with its appearance in the New York Times.
Israel has had the bomb for a long time.

Hate to tell you, by Israel has had nukes for quite awhile now, its the subs capable of launching them that is the new bit. Years ago treatys were signed by most of the world leaders to help deal with nuclear proliferation. As you might imagine, the U.S. and U.S.S.R pretty well called the shots. Countries that were at a technical disadvantage were all but forced to promise never to build or purchase "The Bomb" or to conduct research related to it. Some countries such as France and Israel had the nards to refuse to sign these treaty's, claiming it would leave them vulnerable to attack by other nations. Kind of puts a new light on why the neighbors of Israel don't get together and invade.
The use of nukes by Israel almost became a reality by the way. During the opening moments of Gulf War 1, Israel was prepared to use nukes on Iraq if missiles launched into Israel were armed with chemical warheads. Pretty scary, huh?

Yes, Israel played right into the hands of Iran by buying that dam sub at this time. Iran is just saying "go ahead and nuke us, but you better hope you kill us all because we will walk to Israel to pay them back!
I do think it is going to have to be the reformation of the peace process that can save the day and maybe the life of Human Beings. The United States needs to get out of Israel's corner and start building peace for the future generations by rediscovering our neutrality. And then begin the long walk to Jerusalem.

You got it partly correct. Iran and Syria are too dangerous to have WMD's.
Some of the muslim countries are repeatedly demonstrating behavior that supports terrorism, the destruction of other countries, and generally makes them unsuitable to have ANY weapons; they ACT crazy. Israel on the other hand only responds to being attacked.
I'm glad the Israel has nukes. It may be the only reason why the irrational muslim countries haven't launched any major attacks in many years.

Israel has had nukes since the 1960's and never used them, and everyone has known that they were a nuclear superpower and they have never tried to hide it. Where have you been? Get with the program. Iran and Syria have never had them and have threatened to use them.

Israel is in the worst plausible spot in this international and that i wager the U. S. are easily hoping they do use some nukes and by no skill be blamed for it. except in the right it sort of sounds like the Israelis are those that used the U. S..

The subs are for launching a nuclear attack at sea if for some reason a country were to drop a nuke on them after becoming totally obliterated.
Why shouldn't Isreal have nukes? Everyone wants to take their land. Isreal has no desire for theirs.
