i have lived in this apartment for two years(in NYC), my brother lived here two years before that and never once have i seen a month in here. i got a new roomate about two months ago and now suddenly within in this past week this place is lousy with moths. could she have brought them in? would it have been larve? whats the best way to get rid of them? i really can't stand the smell of cedar and lavender, so does anybody have any other good recipies?

and now im paranoid about other infestations. should i be worried about bedbugs or other critters?

sorry i don't know what kind of moths they are.
i would say they are longer and skinnier then most moths i've seen and they are sort of a real sandy brown color.

i know about mothballs, but i'm saying i don't like the smell of cedar or lavendar (which most mothballs contain) so im asking if anyone has any DIFFERENT ideas.
thanks.

Obviously the basic answer is YES! You didn't have them before this person moved in and now you got 'em? duh! Speaking for myself, I'd be very concerned about the cleanliness of this person.

Eucalyptus or mint works pretty good with most flying insects.
