It is called a Flilght data recorder (FDR). The term "Black Box" is almost never used within the flight safety industry. The device's shroud is usually painted bright orange and is generally located in the tail section of the aircraft. FDRs are usually located in the rear of the aircraft, typically in the tail. In this position, the entire front of the aircraft acts as a "crush zone" to reduce the shock that reaches the recorder. Also, modern FDRs are typically double wrapped, in strong corrosion-resistant stainless steel or titanium, with high-temperature insulation inside. Additionally, since the recorders are sometimes crushed into unreadable pieces, or never located, most modern units are self-ejecting (taking advantage of kinetic energy at impact to separate themselves from the aircraft) and also equipped with radio and sonar beacons (i.e. emergency locator transmitter).
If you were to look at the state of recovered FDRs, quite a few number look bad but the data in the recording devices were salvageable. It is not feasible to create an indestructible aircraft. You have to take into consideration a lot of factors in building an aircraft - aerodynamics, powerplant thrust, fuel quantity, target range and number of passengers in order for the airline to make a profit. If you are concerned about aviation safety, statistics show being a passenger in an airline is much safer than driving on a highway. Besides, there is such thing as insurance just in case of death in the event of an airplane crash. Even tanks can get destroyed in a military transport crash.

Because most often Black Boxes are encased in lead, and lead isnt really the best material to make an aircraft out of.

Why do people always ask this stupid question?
Who cares if the black box is destroyed or not, it does not contain PEOPLE and if it did everyone in it would DIE if dropped from 32,000 feet! Last time I checked the contents of the black box didn't have a pulse, the fact that it "survives" is of no concern if everything in it dies!
How about we make a black box and put you in it and drop you; I bet the box will survive brainiac ... will you?
Sheesh, use your BRAIN!

Perhaps it's too heavy or not aerodynamic enough to make the whole plane out of?

If we will make it by that thing then it will havier to fly and giving shape to this thing is pretty tough task.Due to cost also.
