The one common trait we humans have is that we all seek to be loved. The first step in this journey is respecting yourself.

Do what you need to so you can respect yourself and the rest will follow.

Bobbe Sommer & Maxwell Maltz : Psycho-Cybernetics 2000

Not a religion. A book.

A system of rewriting the crap you have been telling yourself since childhood. Takes time and practice but IT WORKS.

Easy to find on eBay.

Naturally, as a fitness pro -- I cannot leave out the obvious psychological and biochemical, as well as the clearly physically visible benefits of regular progressive resistance training -- weight lifting. Added to good aerobic training, people regularly see major changes in mood and self-worth, since it's something you do for yourself, but get to enjoy self-admiration as well as admiration from others.

I know both of these methods have added to the lives of many. Some here will tell you to just get out and meet people, but good luck doing THAT when you feel you aren't worth knowing. Take time to find out what you are in what uniqueness you possess, and learn these methods, take care of that body and mind and spirit, and walk into the sunshine of awareness of the Truth: You belong, as much as anyone else here... :)

Good luck... :)

Perhaps u should try karate or boxing classes? I know it sounds extreme, but I took some Chinese kickboxing classes and it really made me feel tough, proud, and confident (not in that snoby way though). After 5 years of karate, my instructors had taught me to have integrity and self-esteem. Esp. when I was shy and hardly spoke a word- participating in this vigorous activity helped me to speak up and defend myself. Good blessings!

SELF-ESTEEM
At the Pan American Games, Greg Louganis was asked how he coped with the stress of international diving competition. He replied that he climbs to the board, takes a deep breath, and thinks, "Even if I blow this dive, my mother will still love me." Then he goes for excellence. At the beginning of each day, how good it would be for each of us to take a deep breath, say, "Even if I blow this dive, my mother will still love me", and then, assured of grace, go into the day seeking a perfect 10!

Abraham Koramn found that individuals who are told they are incompetent to achieve a certain goal or do a certain task even though they had no pervious experience with the task, will perform worse than those who are told they are competent to achieve the goals and do the task.

It takes time to figure out who you really are. You need to be patient, figure out what you like and don't like. You need to get comfortable with yourself before you can get your self-esteem up. With me, going out with my friends and having a good time really helped my self-esteem. Friends are a good way to get that back up. It'll take time, but you'll get there.

Believeing in yourself and thinking high of yourself is the only way other will think high of you! Be proud of yourself and don't care what others think! Why should you live up to everyones expections instead of your own! Believe in yourself and don't let your heart down! Be proud and walk with pride that you are your own person!
