I find that if the husband and wife have different skills when dealing with banking issues. Say Husband writes down everything balances the accounts, files every receipt ATM slip. The wife spends but doesn't track the spending could lead to trouble. Then it could be a trust issue if one party wipes out the account if divorce rears its head. People can be very vindictive.

Yes, the wife should get her own account too. And then they should split the bills 50/50 until the husband gets the picture that he is too controlling.

I was in a bad marriage, and there is no way that I would put my name on a joint account again. Right before he left me he went to the bank that morning and cleaned out all the money and there was nothing that could do since it was a joint account..

I have a freind that had to take his wife off all accounts because she spent more than he made. He had to. I also know both sexes sometimes have a hidden account that is a back up incase of a break up. I don't do it because its hideing things from eachother. One or the other

Could be a trust issue, but not necessarily... I always had my account, he had his and we had a joint one for all household expenses, the mortgage, utilities, insurances, etc etc...for us it was just easier that way......I didnt always have to worry if we were going to balance when he used the atm and took out money and then I did the same...it was just easier

He doesn't want the wife spending their money..at least not without asking him first.
Some couples agree to this..but if she didn't and he won't add her then I think she still has a right to it if they're married, get a lawyer.

He's a control freak. He's more concerned about his money than forging a partnership with his wife. He probably doesn't even love her.

i believe its a control issue. Fair enough if they have a gambling prob etc but alot of men like to control their women this way.
