any type that's comfortable would be appropriate, but not too comfortable to the point where you're wearing flip flops or sandles. flats, skimmers, and heels that aren't too tall would work. it also depends on how much walking you do.

I work at a 5 star restaurant as a host and I wear Jimmy Choos and Uggs. Depending on the time of year. Sometimes I wear BCBG or Jessica Simpson but normally my BFF is Jimmy. LOL

wolverines. a high top work boot. waterproof and oil resistant sole. very comfortable and very supportive to the ankle. ties up high using lace hooks and topped off with lace eyes. The boots appear to have Swede tops and are dark brown in color. I have received many compliments from co-workers. I am a carpenter working in the resort industry. The boots range in price but average about $55.00 a pair.

i prefer flats, or very low high heels, depends on where u r working nursing requires a white oxford with supports for lots of walking, the same for waitress work and hotel /motel cleaning. if an office then a few hours on a short pump would be fairly reasonable.but depends on alot of different issues to do with support, and you , personal choice of style.etc.etc.
