the cards need help with pitching. the have one of the best offensive lineups in baseball, and with several gold glovers on the field, thier defense is there. thier pitching has been spotty at best. with weaver working on his delivery, the return of chris carpenter, and the rookie, adam wainright set to join the rotation next season, the birds should have a good core to build around.

Aside from Carpenter, their pitching staff sucks. It's really that simple. Mulder has been hurt and looked terrible in his return. Marquis and Suppan are very mediocre, and the middle relief ahead of Isringhausen is brutal. Izzy hasn't had the best of years either.
They are very fortunate to be in the lousy NL Central.

Bad pitching, shaky offense (although they have improved it with Wilson and maybe Vizcaino), and possibly they are not as cohesive as in some years past. They blew a 6 run lead on Monday and scored 8 against the Mets in a losing effort Tuesday. Their pitching wasn't there.

i dont think they r self destructing caz baseball is a streaky game and right now the cards r in just a little bit of a slump and everything will straighten out soon so keep the cardinal faith

Their pitching is not as good as it was last year. At this time of the year their hitting goes to pot at key times as well.
