Properties Of A Cube

2016-11-07 06:52:21 · answer #3 · answered by sturms 4 · 0 0

The defining properties of a cube are: a cube has edges with equal lengths, faces with equal areas and congruent shapes, right angle corners. The cube is composed of six square faces that meet each other at right angles and has eight vertices and 12 edges. A cube is called a hexahedron because of its 6 faces.
In a cube the length, width, and height are the same. Its volume is the cube of one of its sides, and its surface area is the sum of the areas of the six faces.
TRIVIA: Because the volume of a cube of edge length "a" is given by a^3, a number of the form a^3 is called a cubic number (or sometimes simply "a cube"). Similarly, the operation of taking a number to the third power is called cubing.

Volume, Surface, Height, Width, Lenght, LocX, LocY, LocZ

These are the properties of a simple cube. In non-computer related geometry, you can ignore the Locs, as that is merely it's location in a 3D enviorment.

To find the surface of the cube, find two of either it's Height, width, or length.

Example:
Height * width = Surface of one face(side)
(Height * width) * number_of_sides = Surface

Since a cube is of equal proportions, you can asume that Hieght width and length are the same.

To find the volume of the cube, multiply height, width, and length.

Height, width, and lenght = volume

Now, what do you mean by a "cube?" The word cube has many definitions. It can mean a number raised to the power of 3 or it can mean a shape. Please add more details.
