I wouldn't say so, no. Everything in the universe orbits something else, and everything in the universe is spinning. You cannot differentiate between objects with those things as qualifications.

Size, mass, and chemical composition are much better ways of defining heavenly bodies.

The sun will never become a planet, and earth was never like the sun at any point in its history.
To understand why, you should read these articles:

If I am not mistaken, planets cannot be considered a planet unless they rotate around the sun, have sufficient mass to retain their ball shaped form and their path around the sun cannot interfere with any other celestial body. Pluto was removed as the 9th planet today because its orbit interferes with the orbit of Neptune. A planet must also clear the "neighborhood around the planet", whatever that means. As for stars, I don't know if they rotate around the sun or not, but they are classified specifically because of their temperatures, and the extreme amounts of energy (light) they give off.

A hot planet can emit its own energy, but to be a star it must have nuclear fission. Jupiter emits more energy than it receives from the Sun, yet it is clearly a planet.

Our sun is a star not a planet. One day it will die and explode. It gives off its own radiation and stuff and it is massive so it has lots of gravity where planets revolve around it. The sun is made of Hydrogen and part Helium.
