My job is transfering me from California to Kalamazoo and I would like to live in the Kalamazoo school district so my kids will be Promise qualified.

HI
AS A FORMER kALAMAZOOIAN HOPE YOU ENJOY THE AREA!

ANYWAYS- to be in that school distict--just north of Parchment is a nice area( I grew up there!!) out and around the Maple hill area is cool! Milwood is a quiet little area with alot of tree-lined avenues! Really the whole area is nice except for close to city center---as with all medium and larger cities it seems -your less desirable areas to live are right down town!! Hope you'll become a TIGER fan--as that part of the state is REALLY baseball country!

I actually live in Kalamazoo. Unfortunatley, I was a year too late for that luxury. But anyways, I believe there are some houses up for sale right now on one of the following 3 streets in Kalamazoo (specifically about 15 minutes away from WMU): Berry St., Percy St., and Sunnycrest St., Kalamazoo MI 49048.

Everyone there gets along quite well. Everyone seems to know everyone. Not dead silent, but very calm and reserved. If you need to know anything else, let me know.

Portage just outside of Kalamazoo is very nice, family oriented, family friendly area. It's where all the parks and shopping is located too.

Try contacting a local real estate agent. They will know everything there is to know about affordable, safe options. A really good website to browse local real estate/real estate agents is: http://www.realestateforsaleinmichigan.com

It's really easy to navigate and is full of info about realtors with links to their personal websites. Most of their websites will have all the available homes/rentals in the area along with community info, so you can do some research before you contact anyone. Hopefully that works for you. Good luck!
