Everyone gave you a correct answer on this one. You can use a debit card to make online purchases however the real question is Should you use your visa debit card to make online purchases. A debit card is treated differently than a credit card in some cases with regard to fraud. With a credit card, if a charge has been fraudulently charged to your account you would simply call your credit card company, report the activity, and they would do an investigation on their side. If it turns out to be a fraudulent charge they will simply credit your account and close the card and issue you a new card. If there is fraudulent activity from your debit card you will have to file a police report and submit that to your bank. If the charge is in fact fraudulent they will refund your money but it could be a significant period of time before you get your money back. Meanwhile, you could get kind of hungry waiting for your money to come back to you. Be very careful when using a debit card for online purchases. Only use vendors that you know well and are confident that they are not scammers. Avoid any foreign companies. The laws leave you completely on your own if you use your debit card with a foreign company and it turns out to be fraudulent. I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

Yes, if your debit card has a Visa logo on it, then it can be used like a credit card. It will be drawn directly out of your checking/savings account. They will ask what type of credit card and you will need to click on Visa from the selection that is given. They will ask for the number on the card, which you would need to type in. You will be asked the expiration date, which is also on the front of your card. Sometimes to verify that it is your card, they will ask for the last three digits of a number that is on the back of your card. By having the Visa on your debit, it can be used just like a regular credit card without the high interest rate, and comes directly out of your account!

Your debit card is your credit card. You can use your credit/Debit card on the interent to buy whatever you want. It comes out of your accoutn at the bank. The only difference between your bank card and a credit card is that on a real credit card from another company you have to pay a bill to repay what you spent on the card. Your Debit/Credit card it just comes out of your checking.

You can pay for things online using a VISA debit card! Just enter your card number on the front of your card and expiration date in the order boxes.

All of the posters above are correct. One additional thing. Banks do not tell you this. Once you get your pin number in the mail.
You need to activate the card and each bank is different. Phone, Atm(located at your bank branch), Bank website, or inside the bank. Some even require an additional activation for online purchases by calling them. Your bank should tell you how to activate your card for all purchases.

You can definitely use it for online purchases. As long as the website accept Visa cards, you'll all set. When entering the card type select Visa and enter the account number, etc.

Gator714 gave the exact answer I would have. Yes, your debit card can be used exactly as a credit card. But, banks/creditors have different ways to deal with fraud in regards to checking accounts as opposed to credit accounts.
Stop by your banking institution and ask them how they protect you.
