Oh Metallica show the love! Yes he is best known for the Explorer style guitars and his signature series being the Les Paul style.

He uses different kinds for different songs, and has used different types during different portions of the bands' history. I *think* that with the mosrt recent album, he started playing a les paul style, which is what Kirk used to play. But that's only one song that I know of...
