Any makeup experts around? I'm confused yellow undertoned = warm skinned , pink undertoned = cool skinned thingy... i heard there is blue undertone also .. what is dat? I tried going to some cosmetic counters but they never seem to give me a satisfactory answer .. sometimes even confusing... I pretty sure that i have yellow tone skin coz most of my makeup are in yellow based which definately make me looks better . However rich intense colours tend to make me look better den nude/coral/beige/gold colours that makes me look so washed out..same goes for clothings i can wear only dark colours (grey/balck/darkbrown/maroon/white ) bt not light one (beige/creame/light brown) help me out what is my actual skin tone? I'm south east asian not fair but not tan/olive either.. thanks a million~

Warm skinned people tend to look best in warm colors. These are earth colors, browns, rusts, oranges, some greens, black, greys, etc.

Cool skin people look better in blues, bright pinks, bright purples, etc.

Seems like you've answered your own question. It's difficult to tell if we don't see you or a picture of you in person. Yellow undertones simply means that the pigmentation of your skin tends to have more yellow based pigments. Same goes for the pink undertone.
Most Asians have yellow undertone, but still not necessarily all.

Makeup depends on the individual and it seems like you already know whats suits you best. It's about trail and error, so always try a product before buyin it. It is NOT necessarily so that a yellow under toned person can only use warm colors. If it looks good on you by all means use it!

If you have yellow undertones, use pink based foundation only of you have very sallow skin(when your skin look very dull or yellowish, also choose a pink based foundation that is very close to your skintone to avoid lookin like a clown) however it's recommended that you use a blusher or perhaps a pink color corrector to brighten up your skin instead.

This definitely is one of the hardest things when trying to find your perfect makeup. The trick I learned is to stand in a room with natural lighting, perhaps even outside. Hold up a piece of plan white paper to your wrist. If your skin looks has a reddish hue, you have a pink undertone. If your skin has a yellowish hue, it has a yellow undertone. If neither of those work you most likely have a neutral tone.

Your skin tone should be the basis for choosing your color palette for makeup. Opaque makeup should be similar to your skin tone to prevent obvious coloration and wear as the day goes on, but sheer makeup can be used to offset the differences in color, such as warming cool-toned skin or cooling warm-toned skin. Neutral sheers are a safe choice because they take the edge off your natural skin tone, achieving a balance. Putting cool toned makeup on skin that is naturally a cool-tone is exaggerating your natural color, which can make you look like a clown. Remember, makeup is supposed to accentuate your positive attributes and mask imperfections - bring your natural beauty into view!

The only reason I know this is because my husband is a photographer. He has to balance the subjects skin tones and adjust lighting accordingly to get a good look. Principles of additive and subtractive color are pretty easy to understand if someone can demonstrate them to you in a real-life way. Any art student would really help you put this into perspective.

I hate this puzzeling $@#% stuff to but here's what works for me. Take the quiz below by checking which colors look good on you. Which ever column has the most checks indicates whether you're warm on cold.

COOL / WARM
White / Ivory
Black / Brown
Blood Red/ "Orangy Read
Pink / Peach
Hunter Green/ Olive Green
Navey / Brown

Now for the BLUE UNDERTONES...?....I check the natural lip color to see if it's got more pink or not. My formula?the less pink I see the more likely they have blue undertones

Basicly, everything that is on the yellow, red, orange side is warm skinned; and everything that is on the blue, green, grey side is cooled skinned. If you see anything that has somewhat reddish tone to it - then it is on the warm side. If you see anything that has somewhat bluish tone to it, then it is on the cool side. Also, you can buy color charts, look them up on the internet, that separate colors on the warm ones and on the cool ones. This way, after you actually see the charts, you will understand more how to distinguish them. Hope this helps./
