Actually let me correct you on that one. Elephants are stronger in the way that you phrased the question. Ants are pound for pound much stronger than an elephant, but that is not the question you asked.
Ants can lift 50 times their own weight, not 5.
Oh and yes size does matter in the question you asked, if you want somethign to move a tree, you dont call an ant, even several thousand ants couldn't move a tree, but an elephant can

Next time ask: "Pound for pound, which of these two organisms is stronger and why"
That would make more sense

There are two ways to answer this question.

First, actual strength. The elephant is stronger. It can lift more weight and exert more total force. It's pretty silly to say size doesn't matter when size does affect the answer to this question.

Second, relative strength. The ant is stronger in relative size. It can lift a larger weight relative to its own weight. However this is of no consequence because in terms of actual total capacity the elephant wins.

If the point you wish to make is that the ant is stronger in relative size then you need to phrase the question that way.

Which would win a wrestling match between an elephant and a killer whale?

The answer to that question is that there could be no fair match between these two animals. In water the whale has an undisputable advantage. On land the elephant has an undisputable advantage.

The ant is stronger, elephants are huge and weigh a lot, but cannot lift their body weight. Ants, unlike the elephant, can lift more than their body weight; therefore, the ant is stronger ;)
