3 weeks is NOT okay! Periods usually lasts anywhere from 3 - 7 days max. If your period goes beyond one week, contact your doctor as soon as possible. There may be something wrong with your menstrual cycle.

It depends. If you're taking hormonal medication (such as Birth Control) at the end of your pill cycle it is common to have a heavy or long period.

If you have just started getting your period it's normal. If you have had your period for over a year, see your doctor.

Maybe you have a fibroid tumor.
If you can't get to a doctor,
try sitting in a tub of hot water
as hot as you can stand it and
as full as you can fill the tub.
Two or three times a day.
Drink red raspberry leaf tea.
I had that and it worked for me.
Good luck!

No it's not. Are you on the pill? It will do that if it's the wrong dose or wrong type for you. Tell the doc to switch you. If it's not then, then GO on the pill it will help.
