Its possible with what we've been hearing of water, ice and structures being discovered on Mars. The alien race that was there may have built underground, nuclear reactors that releases oxygen into the atmosphere thereby making life on the surface possible. The aliens were wiped out before they had a chance to turn the generators on. What's your opinion?

I think you are into watching the movies.

There are a number of problems with the scenario. If they were advanced enough to put those reactors there, then why werent' they advanced enough to use them to stay alive? Since the atmospheric pressure and gravity are so low, how will the oxygen stick around and not be evaporated off into space? If they could put up an atmosphere, would they have a problem with global cooling do to the oxygen levels?

If they were that advanced, wouldn't they have other sources of energy around to keep them going too? How about other evidence of their existence? Why would they be wiped out?

It makes a nice plot in a movie. It just isn't realistic in real life.

it is possible, but why is it necessary that an alien intelligent species on another planet had to breath oxygen? or breath at all?

regardless of breathing, or lack thereof, i would bet against the nuclear reactor theory, but ive been known to be wrong, but not very often.

i visit assert definite there is existence on mars. even with the undeniable fact that existence likely exists as prokaryotic organisms. I pretty doubt sensible existence sort has stepped ahead as there is not any hint of sensible existence sorts. of direction mars as a planet isn't unavoidably fit for human beings to live to inform the tale as a results of skinny environment yet i imagine it really is totally plausible for unmarried-cellular organisms to exist on that planet.

i doubt it. if they managed to create nuclear generators, then they would have to be able to live on mars without oxygen.so why did they need oxygen.anyway, the oxygen would have been sucked into space even if the generators were turned on because mars's gravity is so weak.
