Doctor of Osteopathy. They are like medical doctors in many ways. They can operate on you, write prescriptions, etc.
The difference is that they take a more natural approach to medicine. They might give you an "adjustment" much as a chiropractor would. They are much better at trying to heal you without throwing the latest medicines at you haphazardly.
They are not "bone doctors". Those are Orthopedic doctors.

So many wrong answers here, I had to laugh. DO is a doctor of osteopathy. Highly trained just like an MD, but uses a more natural approach. Operates, writes Rxs, etc just like an MD.

DO is a doctor of osteopathy who likes to talk to you longer than a medical doc who sees you less than 10 minutes. DO just don't give pills for evrey problem.
