Seattle! I grew up in the Midwest, and I can tell you that hands down, Seattle is a better city than Minneapolis. The weather is mild but you still have all four seasons. The people are educated, fit and cultured. The mountains and water are beautiful beyond belief and there are alot of great things to do in the surrounding areas.

In Minneapolis, the weather is extremely hot in the summer and extremely cold in the winter. The scenery is ok, but nothing compared to the beauty of Seattle. Plus, you are out in the middle of nowhere...no other metro areas around you.

Seattle all the way!!

I've never been to seatlle but I do live in the twin cities. I love Minneapolis but I think for you it probably depends on what kinds of things you like about cities and what kinds of things you dislike. Minneapolis isn't anywhere near the ocean but we have tons of lakes here and if you go up to duluth you can visit lake supperior which is huge and can actually get white caps like the ocean. Minneapolis is close to the Mall of America if shopping is your thing. Minnesota is always in the top ten for education nationally. Another nice thing about MN is that it's centrally located (east/west speaking), your nearly as far from new york as you are from LA. Chicago is only several hours away driving. MN has a lot of beautiful scenery and is very clean. We have bluff's and cliffs, wide open prairie, massive forrests, bogs, tons of different things. Although traditionally we have had harsh winters they havn't been very bad for the past decade. We hardly got any snow last winter or the year before and the temperature has been warmer. Our summers are often muggy but that makes for a lot of great days at the beach, or inside with your air contitioner. If you have any specific question about each city and what they have to offer in different ways let my know and I'll tell you whatever I can about Minneapolis. I don't know much about seattle other than what I've seen on TV and read about but I'd probably still pick Minneapolis any day. I'm surprised by all the negative answers about MN though so I thought someone should stick up for us.

I'd prefer Seattle, simply because water stays liquid through the winter.

Seattle is more cosmopolitan and tourist attraction, closer to the ocean, moderate temp, but lots of rain, probably equal access to
outdoor activities.
Minneapolis has more than it's share of lakes, with more insects, not as much to do, much colder in winter, likely more pleasent in summer.
Kind of comes down to west coast or mid-west values.

Seattle. It's on the ocean, has warmer winters and less humid summers. And it's closer to California and Hawaii.
