At the federal level, there is a certain threshold of automatic deductions you can take. You can find the actual numbers on the tax forms, provided by the IRS and your local state.
It also depends on if it's salary or as an independent consultant.
Get the forms, go through the process to figure out if you owe any taxes and if so how much. It's worth the little bit of time.

No, you do not have to pay income tax on income below a certain level. You do, however, have to file taxes and report any income that you did make. Also beware of state and local taxes - be sure you file the proper forms. Do not worry though, you can do this online for free if you do not make too much money. See the IRS website for meore details

In Australia you don't pay tax if you earn less than $6000 a year.
But I notice from your other questions that you are an illegal immigrant. In Australia the lucky illegal immigrants get locked up in detention centres in the middle of the desert. The unlucky ones get "The Pacific Solution" and are shipped to a detention centre in Nauru - a pacific island made of bird droppings (no I'm not kidding).
So my advice is - stay where you are. And feel free to write to our PM.

of direction you pay earnings tax on the earnings from the 2nd activity! Why do you think of you will get a bypass on paying taxes on that earnings?? ALL earnings is taxable except explicitly exempted with the help of regulation. there is no longer something interior the tax code that exempts earnings from a 2nd activity, although while you're working for a appropriate individual.

If you make less than $6k, but your parents list you as a dependent, they will probably have to pay tax on your income. But no matter what, you have to file. Even if you get all your money back.

I thought you had to file at $3000, and you would have to pay anything over $3200, but if you claim yourself, you get a $3200 deduction. Or something like that. You'll find out when you file.

I'm not sure if you'll have to pay or not, but I do know that you will have to file. You are required to file if you make more than $400 a year.
