Why do a lot of the latino people I meet assume that us white people think that we are better than them. My girlfriend is hispanic as are a lot of my friends..so we can talk about everything pretty much. A lot of them have no other white friends and don't come in contact with many white people on a personal level. So where do they get this idea from? Is this passed down from thier parents whom didn't have white friends either? My latino freind said to me a little while ago "White people don't like kids because that don't have as many as Spanish people." That one has me still laughing. This isn't a hate question..honestly

I don't know any hispanics who aren't friends/family with whites. My dad is mexican and my mom white. A lot of my cousins are half and half too.

I think it must depend on what generation hhispanic they are. Like if they are 1st generation, then they are probably prejudice against whites.

It could have a lot to do with the neighborhood too.
Don't take it seriously, just laugh it off and roll your eyes at their ignorance.

That's actually a very good question.

Most kids grow up listening to the viewpoints of their parents when it comes to other races. As adults, they then tend to espouse whatever thoughts and ideas they have learned at home regardless if they are right or wrong.

No doubt your Hispanic friend has made that assumption based on what she learned at home as a child. The only people her parents may have associated with were other Hispanic/Latino people.

As our planet becomes more of a 'global society', perhaps intelligent, thinking people of all races will finally take the necessary time needed to work through their indiviudal prejudices and misconceptions about one another.

Let's hope...

I'm not sure how it got started,, but I do know that Latinos are not the only race that has this skewed point of perception. It's the same thing as if you went to another country,,,, for some reason people in other countries think that Americans think they are high and mighty. It's just not true. My tip of the day is before rushing into judgment of people get to know them first. White people in general are not like that, but I do understand what you are saying. I've dealt with that perception before myself and I've never once in my life mistreated or looked down on anyone because of their race. I guess people such as ourselves have to pay the price for the idiots out there that are like that. Kind of B.S. isn't it???? :)

Racism is encouraged and institutionalized by governments, religions, peers, society and the family unit.

The MYTHS that abound about people of many hues and colors develop because people are now, and always have been, discouraged from honest, heart=felt dialog so that these myths can be dispelled.

These myths always carries within them a kernel (a VERY small one) of PART of a truth. Today these parts are called, facts, polls and scientific research. All which are biased based on the hypothesis they want to prove and their need to satisfy those who pay their wages.

There is but ONE race....it is called HUMAN....that is truth.
The labels (Latino, White, Black, Asian etc), are facts about regional locations.

The best way to dispell the facts (Myths) is to TALK. Talk and more OPEN dialog. Otherwise the powers that be get what they want....a devided, devisive, human race.

Take Care,

Well, your question seems honest enough and I really don't have an answer. However, latin america is ethnically diverse. Some latinos are black, some are white, some are asian--very few but they are out there--and some are native american. The vast majority of latin america is mixed in terms of race--European with native, black with native...etc. Latin american is really a strange designation, it is like american but of an origin in the languages derived from latin as opposed to those derived from English.

I think if you were to visit a latin american country you would have a different perception of the issue. Keep in mind the majority of latin americans in the united states immigrated to the United States because of poverty they experienced. So what you are interpreting as a race issue may be more of a class issue. Whites are equated with wealth and power, and the latin americans who immigrated come from a position of poverty and largely marginalized by the wealthy and powerful of their country.

we hispanice have so many kids for 2 reasions. one the Fing church bas us from using conbdoms and thinking for our selves and the nex reasion is because we hope that at leats one will become rich.

we tend to forget that we are orignaly we were white and we had slaves too so in away we think we are below are selves. (i know that dident make sense)

Americans no matter what always give a sense of raceism not matter what they do. i have seen this so much and you know why? because thats just how americans are viewed! if a brit or a germin acted the same way no one would see is at raceism. and that sucks.

also most hispanice tend to stay in ther own villages with in cities kind of like many blacks so they never even meet any whites.

I have seen great changes in the U.S in the last 20 or so years. When I was a kid RACISTS WERE A COMMON BREED, mostly because of the way they were brought up. Misinformed individuals generating these perspectives from generation to generation. I want to share this with you. When I very young maybe 2 or 3 (yes I have a great memory) and please don't take this inappropriately. I remember one of my older deceased relatives scolding me when I had a nickel in my mouth she said “don’t put that in your mouth black men could have touched it." Now take to heart my mind was not yet poisoned with these opinions. I thought what did she imply? “black men could have touched it” But as a grew I realized what she meant! And once again she was 80 something in the 60s, so she would be 120 something now. My parents were hippies, a middle class subculture and their view's were skin is skin it's what’s inside that counts. Now that made more sense to me. And therefore the racists’ gene was dying! And the U.S. was maturing. I have my impressions about the government trying to propagate the racist’s gene. Trying to protect it and nurture it back to life.
YEAH I MEAN YOU G.BUSH YOU’RE A ******* IDIOT! BECAUSE OF YOU THIS PLANET IS IN ITS SWAN SONG, ATTEMPTING TO TAKE MONEY FROM MY 85 YEAR OLD GRANDMOTHER TO FUEL YOUR WAR MACHINE. Sorry for the outburst my friends….PEACE

A lot of white people don't have as many kids because they believe in using BIRTH CONTROL.

The Catholic Church has a strong hold over the Latino community, and tells them that the use of birth control is immoral.

Well I thought it was agreed by society that white people think they are better than everyone always. Isnt that why the white man conquered the Indians and took thier lands. The indians call the white man "wasichus" or white devil.

For the most part white people do feel they are the human example of what people are suppose to be. So in other words she is correct most whites do feel they are better and most of all other cultures have been brained washed into believing that also.
