You can tell them without being rude about it try dropping suttle hints like let's get ready you can take a shower first ect. ect.

If this is your best friend then you would be doing him a favor by talking to him. Most people with body odor can not smell themselves. Like any other odor if you smell it long enough you somehow become immune to the smell. I am sure if you had a polite conversation with him he would not get upset. I know I would rather have a friend tell me instead of allowing me to walk around that way. Like the age old question "does this make my butt look big" I have one friend that I can trust to be honest. I would rather her tell me something then allow strangers to comment behind my back.
