the problem i'm having is that i can not shift the car into gear. Originally you should be able to press the brakes and the gear lock deactivates, then I would be able to shift the gear. is there any kind of fuse or solenoid i can disconnect. Or maybe, you might know how to repair this.

First things first.
With the key "ON", (doesn't have to be running) apply the brakes. Ask a friend to tell you if your brake lights are on.
If they are, then you are going to have to locate the solenoid or cable that activates the interlock, and I can't tell you where it is on your model.
If the brake lights do NOT come on, then there may just be a blown fuse, or a defective brake light switch.
If it is a fuse, replace it with the original rating fuse. If it blows again, there is something causing an excessive electrical load on that circuit.
You should locate and repair it rather than just using a heavier fuse. If you "cheat" it, you may run the risk of burning up your car's electrical system. VERY expensive.
If it is a brake light switch, you can locate that under the dashboard above the brake pedal, to the right of the steering column. You should be able to purchase one at the local parts house.
For information on the interlock system, you can purchase the repair manual for < $20.00 at the local discount parts house, or Barnes & Noble, Borders, or (?)
If that isn't where you want to put your money, go to your local library; in the REFERENCE section you can find all the information you need.
You should also ask if they have either ALLDATA or Mitchell-On Demand. These are computer based resources of professional level, and can be a very great help in securing information on nearly every system of your car, and you can print the information out.
Finally, if you are inclined to do some of your own repairs, you can purchase a yearly subscription to the same material, for one car (or more if you pay more) delivered right to your own computer and printer.

Check to see if the brake lights are working. Those particular cars have a common issue with the BOO or Brake On Off switch going out on them that is the input for the gear shift interlock system as well as the brake lights.

The first thing I would check is to make sure the gear lock hasn't disconnected from the brake pedal, I'd look under the hood, back by the firewall where the brake pedal is, and follow it to the gear lock, and see how it works. The other option is the linkage might be locked.
