I think that going to that place is an excellent idea. Making something together is something that you are trying to do in the first place. Maybe you might learn a little about each other. Go make some bear happy, give it some memories, make some our own while your at it. Have some fun, you only have one life, I say go for it!!

not the first date, maybe fourth date is okay because it's not the best place to get to know each other first. build-a-bear workshop is also so crowded and has so many noisy kids. don't do the cliche dinner and movie thing on the first date if you don't want to; it's not the only option for dates. movies aren't that great for first dates anyway because you don't get to have a long conversation and get to know each other better because you're so involved in the movie and/or you would disturb other people in the theatre. you could use what you know you have in common and get an idea of where to go from that. maybe you both like fish and you could visit an aquarium or something? or you could even take an afternoon stroll in a park or go to a botanical garden, and of course downtown by the arch. you could even reschedule to have a lunch date instead of a dinner together and go around in a mall even just to window shop or something. hope i helped lol :] and i hope your first date turns out great!

Very cute idea - but not sure I would do this as a first date. I agree that this activity should be saved for later in the relationship... build a bear to commemorate a special event or milestone. What if things don't work out - who gets custody of the bear. I guess it could work if you both build your own bears and not a 'special' bear for that date.
Some other ideas... A picnic in the park... A long walk, hike, or bike ride together... YOU make him dinner.
Whatever you do - I sincerely hope things go well - best of luck!

I agree that it's something that you might not want to do for the very first date, unless (in my opinion) you've known him a while as friends (which you said you kind of haven't) and it's some kind of inside joke between the two of you. I think for a "special occasion" it's a really cute idea, but I guess it all depends on his personality and if you think he'll find it fun. Don't forget that there will probably be kids there, though, so it might not be the best place for talking.

Build a bear sounds fun! Seattle is a beautiful place. Go hiking, then get a bite to eat (nothing fancy, a favorite hole for comfort food is good, a place where you can actually sit and talk).

I'd hold off in Build-a-bear until a special occassion. It's a bit forward for a first date.
