No, not necessarily, supporting the troops are currently part of the military is one thing, but u can still be against the draft. The draft pulls more people into the conflict and puts more lives at risk. So it's understandable that someone would be against the idea. But once there is a draft, the important thing is to continue to support the troops, whether or nor they have been drafted or were voluntary.
It's kinda of like how some people support the troops, but don't support the war. They want the troops to be safe and to come back home that way. And they respect what the troops are doing for our country, but don't support the reasons for the war.
And i think that's all right. But it's always great to see the people the that support the troops and the war, and are even able to get behind the draft to support that as well. For myself I'd rather there not be a draft. I am military, i signed up knowing the risks, and i'd hate to see my non-military friends pulled into it. but at the same time if the is a draft then i would like to be able to see people to be able to get behind the idea and support it then.

If you are a young American, and you are supporting our troops you don't have to support the draft if the discussion come up. But if there is a draft then you should think very hard about supporting your country right or wrong. You are not here on a free ride of freedom but you are here having this freedom by the lives and blood others have shed for you to have this freedom.
It is a hard decision to make but to have the freedom you have, such as it is, someone must pay the price to keep that freedom.
Freedom of choice is not free. You have to work for it.
You have a choice either go to the file for the draft or not. Then you will have to explain your actions to the courts if not.

Do not confuse supporting the troops with supporting the policy or actions of the administration. Thus a draft is only indirectly related to supporting the troops.

I wouldn't support a draft, but if in fact one occurred... I would, as I do now, continue to support the troops. It has been proven that an all volunteer military is much better than a military of draftees... I'm sure the politicians in office would always reflect on this if the thought of a draft were ever considered.

We should definitely have a draft. If something is important enough to go to war for, then the folks risking their lives should be coming from all parts of society, and not just the poor.. The upper and middle class are way under represented in the military.

Good idea.Get some of those rich kids to pony up some campaign money to stay out of war.Just like in Vietnam.
Every man needs to go into the army to do his Patriotic Duty.Just like the Scandinavian countries.
Can't let the disadvantaged youth in the inner cities and the underemployed have all the fun,can we?

The act of supporting our troops is just that... you support the troops. It does not mean you support the war in Iraq... (if you do, that's your choice) but you are hoping for the safe return of the troops to their families. So... I would say that... no, a person who supports the troops does not neccessarilly support a draft.
I for one want my brother-in-law... a soldier in Iraq to come home to his family... safe and sound. That is what I am supporting.

Yes. And if you are not capable of serving in the military, in active 'real' duty, cowards like you john should be required to do your two year obligation as community service. Like the Israelis do. Or do you really plan to just suck off the greatness of this country and never give anything back?

Unless you prefer supporting an untrained army, I do not suggest reinstating the draft.
