Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error. This can occur when another program or operating system component encounters a problem but does not communicate the nature of the problem to the Player.

Sometimes you may download the file partially from the LimeWire. In this case Media Player can not play the file and it’ll display an error. This happened to me too. Just make sure that you have 100% complete download from LimeWire or you may not play the file.

1. update your players codecs
2.play your videos in realplayer(http://www.realplayer.com)
3. you usually get that error when W.M.P is trying to play an avi or divx file
4.convert the media type to a MPEG format
Good Luck
