I would also recommend Granville Island, and I quite liked Gastown, with the world's only steam-powered clock. It has a nice old feel to it and a great vintage clothing store. If you'd like some culture as well the city museum has a good display about the city's history, and is in a cool '60s building shaped like an aboriginal hat. There is a fun science museum in a geodesic dome, the only structure left from Expo 86. Try to see a beach. My favourite place to eat is Helen's Grill, a well preserved 50s-style diner with working jukebox consoles at every table. It is on Main St, near a lot of antique stores.

You gotta come here with friends, rent an SUV limo for the evening... First you have to blaze cuz everyone knows BC Bud is the best in the world! Then you have to go clubbing, and drink so much you end up puking everywhere... Once your stomach feels okay you gotta have a few more drinks... Then when the club closes you gotta go get back in that SUV limo and go to stanley park, have a few more drinks there and go over to some guys place who you met that night...
Now after all that, you're partying like you live here...

I'm going to Vancouver in a couple weeks. I plan to hit Stanley Park, Granville Island, some of the other gardens, then take quick day trips out to Victoria (Butchard Gardens of course - I've been told by everyone that I have to go check it out while I'm there) and Whistler. Have a great trip!

go to Granville Island...there is a small ferry at the southern end of Thurlow street..at the aquatic center..it's about $4 return..holds about 12 people max and it's a short cross over to granville island..spend a few hours there..then hop on the ferry back to the seawall and walk around stanley park. this will give you a tremendous feel for what Vancouver is all about...and It's a beautiful walk....any time you're tired..just take one of the trails through the park back to downtown.

beaches and mountains are a must see. I've been to PNE and it's not the greatest. The size is probably 1/8 compared to Wonderland in Toronto. Granville Island is pretty wicked too! Shops and restaurants are cute. I think you'll find lots of things to do there...oh, and did i mention that there's A LOT of chinese people?, i mean A WHOLE LOT. Enjoy!

Take the farry to Victoria and go Orca Whale watching... I went two summers ago. It was fabulous! Not boring at all! If it wasn't against the law we could have touched the whales from the boat! Yes at times there were that close to us! Give it a try! :)
