Not only are humans not the smartest creatures on the planet, they are actually stupid enough to think they ARE the smartest creatures on the planet! Most humans refuse to believe animals can think or feel emotions, in spite of a huge weight of evidence to the contrary, i.e. we can bloody well see them doing it! Further, many humans THINK they think themselves but don't.
I had a co-worker once who claimed animals must be stupid because THEY could not communicate effectively with HER. I did ask her if she was sure SHE wasn't too stupid to understand THEM but she didn't think so.

Well since I'm not going around trying to prove that humans are the smartest beings on the planet I really wouldn't give a sh*t and I'd just go on with whatever I was doing.

wow, if we turned out not to be the smartest beings on the planet....hmmm... wouldn't matter to me what the other creature was, just seems to me we should start small communiity militias to overthrow the genius creatures (I hope they aren't as tough as they are smart). yeah, that would be the logical thing, arm ourselves, organize and preprare for war.
