Why do the rich complain, the middle class? Everyone complains about something sweetheart but, the poor however have valid reasons too. I know I would complain if I woke up to a rat napping beside me. Wouldn't you?
So what this is the land of opportunity. If you'd use those eyes of your, you would see that there is a enormous percentage of homeless people in America and that should get you thinking.
This isn't the land of opportunity. It's about who you know, how rich you are, and every man for himself. The next man walking down the street doesn't give a damn about a homeless person. As a country, we've lost our compassion and morals. This country is the supposed supreme place to be, yet we have so many homeless people?
So here's a thought. Why don't you fuel this energy into something positive. Help the poor, when you see a poor woman or man complaining, give them a dollar for their troubles. Pass out some sand witches. Raise money, create a foundation for the poor.

Poor people complain so much because they have so much to complain about. Get some perspective -- rich and poor are subjective, loaded words. Your father may manage a Subway, and that may mean he is providing for himself and even his family, maybe, but that does not make hime not poor. Having enough money that you don't have to work, ever, that is "rich." And that sort of money isn't to be found at Wallyworld. In many places a minimum wage job such as you suggest won't even pay for the basic necessities, let alone allow for savings to offset periodic catastrophies (don't get sick!). The system is set to be so depressing that most will roll over and accept a life of perpetual poverty. That's the fault of the system, not those it exploits.
That doesn't mean that those kicking back on the dole by choice aren't despicable parasites, but you must be willing to accept a certian level (dare I call it a Calcutta-level?) of inhumanity if you are to avoid this. As a society, we have agreed that it is worth a certian amount of tax money to not have to step over starving people on the sidewalk. The USA has set that price far lower than, say, the Scandinavians, but higher than the Romanians. I suggest you travel some, perhaps to Russia, even though it's no longer commie, and get a bit more perspective on your question.

WOW your dad manages a subway you must be well off now huh? You must have so much money you don't know what to do with it! You know in the city there are many homeless people and ya it does suck when you are walking down the street and you get asked 10 times for some spare change but there are actual foundations and charities that can help people out and since you are so well off that your daddy manages a fast food restaurant would it really hurt you to hand out a dollar once in a while you probably throw out more than that each meal you eat and don't finish.

That's a mean thing to say...most of the time you can't get a job if you don't have a proper place to stay and God likes it when you give the money He allowed you to make, to people who are in need. Your daddy was lucky but that can't happen to all of the poor people, and people with money and and a job and clothes and food complain more than the poor people who have the right to complain.

I would have hoped that you would have defined what you considered to be "poor" before you posted this question.
I don't have much money right now...but apparently I am online and I can afford this.
I live from paycheck to paycheck. I owe the IRS money every year...that's just a given. I'm in that bracket that gives me that honor.
Kudos to your father...I understand his plight...at a time in my and my family's life we had to live on assistance. But it took us a hell of a long time to get out of it too. It's not easy even when you're trying to say "no" to assistance anymore. Because "they" still want "you" on their files. I had people calling me years after we were off assistance assuming I was still on assistance because the social workers never fully took us off. And we had people calling us telling us we needed to get jobs...even though we were already working!
So it kind of makes you wonder WHY are you still on a list you should have been off of years ago! WELL...someone's getting money for YOU! That door goes both ways my friend.
It took a while but we just had to get rude and tell folks to **** off!
And NOBODY takes my hard earned money except the STATE and the IRS!!!!!
Anybody else gets MY money it's because I give it!
Give some people a break my friend. And don't judge. Cause one day, not tomorrow or the next day...but one day...you may be the one on the other end of this question!

ok the way i would see it, your dad is the one with money, ur just a leach. and because of his position you may be wealthy but obviously far from rich. being rich speaks of havin what you need(family, a roof over your head, clothes on your back, and food on the table) to have all these things and appriciate and be happy with just that is living a rich life. more money creates more problems. sure we struggle to make a better life. my family has personally worked its *** of to get out of the ghetto. we now live in whats considered to be the rich part of town. but we are far from wealthy. we have each other and we have clothes and food, and a house to live in, thats all we need. we know the work it took to get everything we have thus we appriciate it more. i think maybe you should get one of those Mcdonalds or Walmart jobs and stop leaching off of your father, maybe use that money to help buy food for your family, or to help pay the bills, or use it to buy clothes for a sibling or even halp a friend who you may consider to be less fortunate. the bond between a family and true friends has nothing to do with the money you or your dad has. they dont ask for handouts, just any help you may be willing to give. this IS the land of opportunity, maybe you should play your part by helping to provide an opportunity to someone less fortunate. help someone get a job at your dads subway, thats the least you could do. and im sure you have way more clothes than you need, donate some to the red cross, or the salvation army. there are people out there who need help and you turn your back on them because your daddy has money. do you see how shallow that makes you look? how cold hearted it makes you appear to the rest of us? just consider what i have said, open your eyes, and your heart. help america live up to its name "the land of opportunity". every little bit helps

Most of these people want help not a handout. They're just trying to get by the best they can. A lot are uneducated that cannot get a good paying job and thus remain poor.

What the hell is your problem?! Do you think people are poor by choice? What about the single mothers who are trying to juggle raising kids AND making money, because the asshole fathers don't want to have anything to do with their kids? What about people who cant work because of a disability? What about the poor college students? You need to think about what you're asking, because you sound really stupid. You could be poor just as easily.
Ps You think your father is rich managing a subway? Please, your father is working class just like the rest of us!

People that panhandle ( which is what you are talking about) can make a lot of money and aren't as poor as people think. I've heard of people actually watching people like this walk from the street corner where they were begging for money,,, get in their Cadillac,,, and drive off. I don't give hand outs. I donate to charitable services that help the poor who are trying their best to make it and the means just aren't meeting the ends.

Jobs are hard to come by even if it is McDonalds or Walmart.
Luke 14:13-14 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind.
And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurection of the just.
