I am asking because I worked for the Government and they seem to think the Civil Rights are not important in todays age. I know because I tried to put a stop to what was happening at work and I got wrongfully terminated?

I don't think anyone in their right mind would argue that racism does not exist. However, the question is really just how pervasive it is. If you listen to the likes of Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton, you would think that there has been little improvement over the past 50 years or so. However, I would argue that it is no where near as common or as accepted as it once was. Most people condemn the various neo-nazi and KKK groups for what they are, a bunch of hate filled kooks. Most people these days do look beyond the color of one's skin or the shape of one's eyes before making judgments about others.

Unfortunately, there are certain parts of society that have become so hypersensitive to the issue that we can no long make valid comparisons about differences in the races without these people crying racism. The fact of the matter is that the different races did evolve in significantly different environments. As a result of this, the different races did develop somewhat different abilities. Does this mean that one race is better than the others? Not at all. Does this mean that one race is always going to be better at certain jobs than other races are? Of course not. Does this mean that we should give preferential treatment to one group just because of race? Absolutely not. What we should have is a truly colorblind way of choosing people for various jobs based entirely on merit. This is the way that most professional sports teams operate. They don't care about the color of a player's skin. They care about getting the best players they can. That is the way it should be in all aspects of society.

Unfortunately, there are people of all races that don't really want a colorblind society. There are the whites who long for the days when the "mud races" were kept in their places. There are also the more visible civil rights agitators who make their livings by grossly exaggerating the amount of racism there is. I say that it is time to stop listening to both of these groups and just start living our lives.

Of course Racism still exists. 10 seconds on YA and you see it.

Perhaps you were terminated because your concept of civil rights doesn't match that of legislation.

Unfortunately there is. As a parent I try to teach my kids not to be racist, but with so much racism/violence around us it's hard to get the message across, and if our governments don't believe we have a problem, then it is never going to change.

Is a frog's butt water tight? Of course there is still racism in the 21st century. It comes from all sides. Whites, Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, all ethnic groups and religions/beliefs have those among them who are racist.

Of course it does. Why should the numbers on a calendar have anything to do with hatred?

People of different races, culture, beliefs will always hate each other. It's human nature, regardless of whose calendar we're using.

Humans fool themselves into thinking rascism will end, but the truth is people have been killing, torturing, and enslaving each other since the beginning of our species. A look at history will prove that.

Easily, I saw a video on Break.com about someone, running for an office position, making a racist remark against African Americans and swimming.
