Your rite, that it is her choice if she whether or not she wants to publicly out herself... if she is a lesbian that is. It's her life and she decides.
Somehow the LGBT community seem to think that if Jody Foster came out of the closet, we are all suddenly going to be accepted and embraced by everyone. That's a heavyweight to place on someones shoulder, especially since we know that they would still keep shunning us.
I think it's just a childish request,... or maybe wish-full thinking, whatever it may be, they should stop bugging her.

Jodie Foster puts off a serious gay vibe. I have also read about her matching wedding bands that she shares with her live in female companion. BUT, Jodie will almost certainly never come out. She doesn't want to be the lesbian poster child of the century. She's a private person.

I agree. Although I'm not 100% sure she's a lesbian, I'd bet money she is. Jody Foster is not yout run-of-the-mill has-been whose "outing" could boost her career -- I think all of the celebs learned that after poor Ellen came out and was lambasted for everything.

You know, Jodie's a much more intelligent woman than to lower herself to panic driven attempts to boost her career. She's very paticular about the roles she chooses, although her last few haven't been the best, but they're ones that interest her.
I think she's a fascinating person and would not be suprised if she is a lesbian, but I don't think it's necessary for her to "come out" if she doesn't choose to.

sprig,
I think that she should make her own decision. But I know that it came up here because it's already being used as a pressure tactic on her. At least, that's the way I see it.
I like Jody Foster. She's always been cool. I don't care what people say about her.

I agree with you. I admire Jodie Foster and respect her decision not to reveal details of her personal life to the public. It's no ones business but hers.

I think people come out when they want to come out. People are just going to have to deal with it until then (if it ever happens) and speculate (like the media).
It is harder for celebrities I agree. So long as they feel comfortable within themselves then who cares what the outside world thinks.
Tom Cruise certainly doesn't.

I agree with her. It any celebrity's right to privacy to come out or not. We admire a character on a screen, and what they do off-screen should be respected. The only reason why I have Kate Moennig as my avatar is because I truly think this woman is DA BOMB!! isn't she? Gay / straight, doesn't matter. The chic on tv's gay, and that's the one that I admire.

She easily tries to stay a private existence, compared to many celebrities who've to be in the spotlight no remember what it takes. She continues to be faraway from the drama, and in turn, the tabloids have little pastime in her.

I honestly think that she is a lesbian. She lives with a female and I have seen picture of them walking together wearing matching wedding bands. Her own brother outted her but she denied it.
