My car was stolen and law enforcement only tells me that they'll call me when they find it? What are they doing to help find it? It wasn't insured and I have no way to get to work. Is there any agency that can help me. They took more than just my car. They took away part of my life.

Your car will be listed stolen through NCIC which is a national crime database. Its not like the police know where your car is taken. But that car is put into that data base and if an officer ever pulls your car over they will know it is yours cause either the tag will come back to you and it will flag your car or the tag thats on it won't belong to you, but it won't belong to the car which should let the officer know to check the vin number which will come back to the stolen vehicle which belongs to you. Other than that there really isn't anything they can do. I'm sorry for your misfortune but there is only so much the police department can do to help... and no, there really are no other agencies.

Your car may have long since been parted out, I'm afraid. If the vehicle is still in one piece and the thieves sell it to an unsuspecting buyer, then it will turn up when the buyer tries to register/insure it and the VIN is matched against stolen car lists.

If it was stolen by joyriders they will eventually park it somewhere (hopefully not in a lake) and it will turn up when someone complains about an illegally parked/abandoned car or police happen to come across it.

WHen my dad's car was stolen last summer, he filed a police report of course and they gave him a case number or whatever it's called and they told him to call the impound lot everyday and ask if they had gotten it in. It took about 2 1/2 weeks, but they finally found it. The impound lot charges for each day that the car is there so it's best to call everyday because no one called him, he had called out there and asked them and they told him that they had gotten it in the day before....he still had to pay $90 to get it out. He didn't have insurance, either.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

Nope.

They're doing nothing to help really. They'll run plates when they pull people over and have it come up stolen, but other than that, you're out of luck.

nope. You needed insurance. Best to buy another car. You better buy insurance this time.

Oh, and you'll never get your money back if they totalled it.
