I thought he did a great job of imitating Christpher Reave (RIP) but a terrible job of putting his personal stamp on the superman series...I hop ethe next one proves to be one of the greats. It is sad the this movie got overshadowed by Pirates!!

The irony in Routh's role is that Luther played by Spacey, seemed to be a perfect casting....must better than Hack-Man!!

Yeah. I do think he imitated Christopher Reeves but I think it was the right thimg to do. A way of sort of paying homage to him because he passed away. I hate sequels with no continuity. Like I loved the first Batman movie but then in Batman Returns the city looks like a different city and he has a different mansion, but it's supposed to be the same mansion. Stuff like that bothers me because the only reason I see a sequel is to see a contiuation on the original.

Christopher Reeve became sturdy and so became Brandon. very just about both an same yet in the right, someone will take Reeve's position. Dean Cain became likely the superb, even even with the undeniable fact that he did not fairly appear like Superman, he became an excellent actor and had the superb chemistry with Lois Lane (Teri Hatcher) for any actor portraying Clark/Superman. yet between Routh and Reeve, likely Routh.

I think Brandon Routh was really good. Hottie status aside, he stayed true to the original character played by Mr Reeve. I'm curious to know who would hav been better if Brandon played the first superman and Mr Reeve the recent one. I personally think it would be a toss up.

I think all the Superman movies have been horribly miscast. The only good comic books movies are those that actually try and follow the tone and style of the actual comics. As far as Superman Returns goes, the Superman parts were pretty good, but the Clark Kent (alleged comedic) scenes were dreadful.

I think Brandon Routh is the victim of a bad script. If you think about it, he did a really good job of acting, it's just that the story didn't give him a chance to shine. If the movie was better, then we would all be giving him high praise right now.
I'm still curious how Tom Welling (Smallville) would have done in his place.

He was a good *looking* Superman, that's for sure.
But you're right, his performance left a lot to be desired. Of course, director Bryan Singer's slavish devotion to the two original "Superman" flicks also hampered Routh's work.
It'll be interesting to see if the inevitable sequel can refresh the concept.

He was a good superman, but nothing compared Christopher Reeves and Dean Cain. Terri Hatcher still makes a better Lois Lane as well.
Oh by the way I watched the movie in the cinemas three times.

Yes, but he sounded a little nasal throughout the movie. And his voice reminds me a bit of Tom Cruise. But other than that he's deelish.

He did a pretty good job, but personally i would have much preferred TOM WELLING star as superman, considering he is the star of smallville and plays the character clark kent a.k.a superman.
