Scabbing is part of the healing process. A thin scab is normal, a thick scab is not. Things will be fine as long as you LEAVE IT ALONE! I have over 10 tatts and I have had one scab up before, but none since. If you are using lotion STOP. If you are using an ointment STOP. Let it dry out and heal naturally. I Actually had one done this past Sunday and I don't put anything on untill it starts itching, and then it is just unscented hand lotion.

A tat will always scab over some. It is broken skin. The main thing to do is to keep it covered. I know that this is some what different than what everyone is telling you right now. But what I am saying is that you need to keep an ointment on it at all times until it is healed. Keep it out of the sun, protect it form water, don't pick at it. if you just "have" to scratch it while it is healing... Scratch Around it Not on it! I have Been inked in three different states now including Hawaii, And all of the artists have told me the same story that I am telling you now. Strange as it may seem, 4 out of 5 of the artists that I have had all suggested that I use A and D ointment.( the stuff that people use on babies to keep them from getting diaper rash). Do not use things like Vaseline, the oil type stuff will just cause you to get zits around the area. DO NOT use anything that says it is an Anti-bacterial cream or lotion. Ink is not supposed to be in your skin, and the anti-bacterial stuff helps to PULL the INK OUT. It will make your new tat fade faster than it should. NO Anti-bacterials! After it is healed, use lotions as often as you can to keep it "fresh" looking. Protect it from the sun. Sunscreen is a must if you have to be out in the sun. Hope this helps!

A scab on a tattoo is bad! It means that, that part of the tattoo was done too deeply. Whatever you do, don't remove the scab. It will take the tattoo with it. Let it fall off naturally. It still may take some of the color with it though and scar. Keep it moist with lotion that has vitamin E in it.
The key to a tattoo healing is to let it sluff off by itself. Never peel the skin that is coming off.

You should be okay, but whatever you do don't peel the scabs. It could make the ink fade quicker then you want it to. Make sure you are putting bacitracin on it every 3 hours or every time it is dry.

No - it's supposed to. Don't pick the scab - let it heal on it's own.

It will scab if you don't keep enough ointment on it. Scabs will fade the color, keep it moisturized

It is supposed to. They literally stab you with needles... you bleed. The ink goes under your skin (I think). but, yeah, usually when you have a wound that bleeds you get a resulting scab.

It's normal.
Try using some vitamin E.
