A friend of mine coughed up blood the other day. He hasn't been feeling well lately either.
He just walked out onto the porch and coughed and it just kinda splatered out. What may he have and how seriouse is it?

umm if he's coughing up blood he should seek Medical attention...IMMEDIATELY. That is a symptom of everything from Tuberculosis to just a severe repiratory infection. Go to a doctor...now.
