First of all, you should know that most businesses in Quebec will refuse to do business with you if you don't speak French. Don't try getting service with pidgin English, because you just will not be served. Get a French and whatever your first language is dictionary. Be prepared to use it all the time.
Do not ever break the law in Quebec. The QPP (their provincial police department) will beat you senseless for little or no provocation.
If you're still determined to go to Quebec, then make sure your plane flies into either Dorval or Mirabelle. And be prepared to pay through the nose for your taxi ride into town.

i spent a summer in quebec once... its so very pretty there. the person is lying about having to speak french or businesses won't serve you, generally even if you TRY to speak french the people just speak english to you anyway to practice THEIR english. unless they don't speak english at all, then its good to know french, but generally you will find somebody somewhere who knows english. also, the police are very friendly.
