I only think that it should happen if the mother's life is in danger and she will probably die from the pregnancy. In that case, then it is better to just lose the baby than the mother and the baby.
In other cases, where the mother just doesn't want the baby, I think it's their responsibility to have the child and perhaps put him/her up for adoption. She had the choice not to get pregnant but was irresponsible, so now has to face the consequences.
I also agree that abortion may be necessary in some rape cases.

I am prolife. I am adopted and I found my birth mom 6 yrs ago. She told me she went to the clinic to ge an abortion and while sitting in the first waiting room she saw 3 girls come out crying hard and in pain. My mom walked out and gave me life.
It's hard to be a young mother, a single mother, or even a married mother with lots of support. Parenthood is the hardest thing you can do but is the best at the same time. I would rather give up my child than have it killed. The parents that adopted me are great and I've had a good life. It would have been worse if my mother had kept me. But I thank you all the time now that she choose life for me.
I know some women have abortions because the doctor will say that the unborn child is ill, deformed, etc. Or if she continues the pregnancy she and the baby might die during delivery. If this happens, get a second and third and fourth opinion. I feel in my heart that I would give my life in order for my child to have his/hers. I honestly don't know if I would tho if I was actually in that situation. But I know 4 girls that have had abortions and they all regret it. One had her uterus cut up badly and ended up having a hysterectomy. So now she can't have another child ever again. She did adopt one last year tho. Abortion kills a human baby and destroys the mother. The mother has to live with that in her mind forever.
If you are thinking about having an abortion or your friend is, get help. Seek counseling, support, talk to women who have had it done. It will scar you forever. Adoption is the best option for an unwanted pregnancy.

That is a decision that the person having the abortion has to answer.
I would hope that someone is not using abortion as a means of birth control. But I guess in the right situation and certain circumstances an abortion would be a justifiable solution.

Abortion is always ok for the first two trimesters(particularly the first). The reason I feel this way is because it's the mother's choice. If she chooses to abort her child, by all means let her. That is an important decision to make, and no one should try to influence her either way, because in the end she will make the right choice for her and her child(even if the right choice is NOT carrying the child to term).

first to the girl that posted "when the mother is not mature enough its ok" should be ashamed of herself. Abortion is NOT another form of birth control. If a woman is not mature enough then she has no business having sex in the first place... there is no 100% effective form of birth control so the tiny tiny chance is always there....
as for the original question... I think its ok ONLY in situations where the mothers life is at risk, in cases of rape, and incest

No, and I understand that if you were raped, then you would want an abortion, but you can always put it up for adoption! There are tons of parents out there who would love to adopt a child. Plus, abortion is murder.

The answer will vary from person to person, but I think it's more acceptable in cases when the mother's life is in danger or if the child has a congenital defect and would not survive long after birth anyway.

That is the choice of the woman and no one else! You should not tell a woman what she can do with her body. Just as you should not tell a man what to do with his.
