The advantage to watching TV at this point in time is...there is a wide selection of channels to choose from, as well as formats.
In the town where I live and have grown up, when I was in 3rd grade we used antennas to pick up TV from "relays" that were set at the top of mountains. And we only got one station...and we could barely see that! It would only come in when the sun went down and you couldn't get it during the day.
Years later the technology got better and stations increased to the three major channels ABC, NBC, and CBS. Unfortunately this service was being provided at no charge to the public. So the "store" that was maintaining the site shut it down.
Thank goodness for satellite TV! This was introduced at the time the "relay" was dissembled.
Soon the new became old. Satellite TV started conjuring up more channels to sell.
Now TV has run amuck like a reality circus.
Are we actually getting the "real" news? OR are we getting fed the news?
If you listen to radio news now a days...during the broadcast they will drop in something about a hollywood star getting their chin tucked or something like that. Now! Is this REALLY news?
There is some advantage to watching t.v., but there is more advantage to exploring for one's self...and not rely on being hand fed your reality for the day.

Well, you can learn quite a lot from channels like the Discovery Channel and other educational ones.
There are documentaries and specials involving different types of music, dance, etc.
Old movies can be entertaining and really highlight the difference
between them and the type of films that are made today.
Entertaining shows are a way of relaxing and winding down after a stressful day at work and/or commuting. They help you forget the annoyances of the world.
Not all tv is trash. People who think so just haven't found the right programs for them. There really is something for everybody on tv today!

There is none actually.
Internet is many times better and ultimately will push TV out. Just wait and see. Just because Internet has a lot of advantages above TV. Most all - free choice of which content you want to see.

Nothing! It's garbage, it's trash and it turns your brain to mush. Why do you think it got the nickname "Boob Tube". Sure isn't cuz of it's nice Tata's.
I am horribly addicted to television. Please help.
