Its the tradition, back in the days of the '20's&'30's most of the MLB teams didnt have names on the back. A lot of teams didnt even start putting names on the back till the '60's&'70's. By that time they Yankees had won 15 or so Championships and didnt want to mess with tradition. See Baseball fans particularly older fans are so stuck on tradition so George "The Boss" being one of those took over the team in what 1974 or something and kept it no name. And as long as he's there bet you wont see a name on any of those jerseys

I assume you mean no names on their jerseys? It's a style thing They have the $$, this is the Yankees were talking about, but it's a cleaner look w/o the names.

they do have names. All their parents just had twisted sences of humor and decided to number them instead of giving normal names.
