How do you get the exponents positive. 4x to the -2

4x^-2 is the same as 4/x^2 The variable with the negative exponent gets flipped into the denominator. The other number stays in the numerator.

In order for it to be 1/4x^2 the original problem would have to have been (4x)^-2
