The movie was released in the early '70's I think. If you are over 18 I would suggest, 'A Clockwork Orange' -- very, very good movie, also very violent. 'The Omega Man', also starring Charleston Heston; 'THX1138', heavy but excellent hard-core future earth SF; 'The Terminator', 'Logans Run' is also excellent once you get past the campy special effects; my favorite thinking-mans science fiction movie of all times is 'The Day the Earth Stood Still', not bleak but very insightful and years ahead of it's time. The original version of 'Blade Runner' is probably the best ever future earth movie ever made. The directors cut is garbage so avoid it at all costs.
"...we're eating people!!!" Damn, I'm going to buy this one tomorrow.

I think that Soylent Green came out in 1973. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Love the look on Heston's face when he finds out what it is!
Let's see........ Logan's run is a fun dismal future type movie. Testament, one of the "nuke movies" is pretty grim. Day of the Triffids. (The book is tons better!) Good old Planet of the Apes.
The Island is okay, tho not so grim, it has a hopeful ending. Reminds me of a mix of Logan's run and an old sci-fi novel called The Reefs of Space. And of course, there is always Farenheight 451. (Again, the book is sooo much better.) HTH.

Soylent Green is a classic. If you can find it, watch an old Twilight Zone episode called "To Serve Man".
Another oldie; "A Boy and His Dog" with a young Don Johnson.

Great movie, made in 1973. Similiar movies, "1984" a newer version available starring John Hurt and Richard Burton. "N for Vendetta" is a recent movie which portrays a dismal vision of the futute and does it magnificently.

Soylent Green was released in 1973.
The only other one similar to it's nature I can recall would be Logan's Run. A great movie and a little disconcerting if you're over 30... but watch it and enjoy it.

It is a futuristic film set in 21st century (now!) starring Charlton Heston made in 1973 tells about food shortage and spiralling prices and widespread unemployment. Striking similarity with the current global happenings.
Some other good sci-fic flicks include Westworld (Yul Brynner), Blade Runner(Harrison Ford) I-Robot, A.I, Matrix series, TRon and Day after Tomorrow

If you liked Soylent Green (which amazes me) then try movies like 1984 (based on the book by George Orwell) and Gattaca...if you want more info about the movie try imdb.com or simply google it.
