Drums - I personally favour Tama drums. They have been in the business for quite a while, plus their hardware is really solid and innovative. For example, they have their new hi-hat stands and Iron Cobra pedals. Totally wicked stuff.

Guitars - If you're into old-skool style, then Fender's the only way to go. More new age companies would be ESP, Ibanez, Maverick etc. I'm sure all these brands sound great and play great. It all depends on which physical design u prefer.

Bass - Same as guitars...i have the same thoughts about bass as guitars.

Drums- Yamaha makes some pretty awesome high-end drum sets in my opinion, zilgian is my symbol brand of choice.

Bass- Bass amps by Hartke are some of the best (even Cream's Jack bruce uses them currently) Warwick makes some very beautiful bass guitars

Guitar- This is highly debatable, but I'd say any american made Fender or Gibson guitar would be nice, although paul reed smith (PRS) and schecter make quality instruments as well. Acoustic guitars by taylor and martin are generally considered to be the best. For guitar amps, it seems more pros use marshall than anything else, although MESA engineering (mesa boogie) makes some very awesome high end amplifiers and speakers.

I have used Ludwig drums for years. They're made in Chicago.
They have a full range of sets for beginners to the professional.
They have a range of finishes too, natural, pearl, sparkle, and vistallite which is see through. That would be the kind of drumset John Bonham used with Led Zeppelin.

For gutairs I always liked Fenders...Fender Stratocasters were used by guitarists like Ritchie Blackmore, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Yamaha....they have been in for a long time...you would think they would know the best of things...the best quality...and they are more serious about how sounds are.
And I would think that when it comes to guitars....I would go to Fendez (sp???) forgive me!!! Maybe it starts with an I??? Like Ibenez...or something like that...oh I am sooo bad!!!! But understand though, I am deaf :o) My son talks to me about music alot...and he has told me these things once. :)
