I am assuming you meant to say your alternator is new also. the only thing i can think of is that you might have an electrical short circuit. Remove both battery cables from battery terminals and wires attached to the alternator Check them closely for broken wires or worn insulation, and make sure battery in bolted in place. If you have done all of these things already make sure the ignition is off. Any electrical that stays on when the key is off {such as lights} are off. Then with a multimeter set on ohms at a medium setting check between the two battery cables removed earlier. If you get an indication of continuity, turn setting lower. If the meter continues indicating continuity on lowest setting you have a short somewhere. You will have to find the location of the short and repair it to fix your problem. Good Luck!

Your alternator may not be powerful enough to support your engine/battery consumption. You may have some wire or component draining your battery due to a short in the wiring or internal damage to the component. At any rate, get it to a mechanic that can track down the problem with test equipment for that purpose.

I don't know if you di d this but the new alternators not like the old ones where you can take the battery terminal off and see if its charging if you do youcan blow a compasitor internally ,I took it and the auto parts tested it said it was good when it was installed the back was magnatised!! if you car is fuel injected they work off of 12 volts if your running off of your baterry alone once you run out of juice your car goes into lemp mode mine on a long stretch..25-35miles per hr. I replaced the distributor, wires, coil, baterry, dist. cap&rotor changed the alternator I was on a test drive and shut it down 125 miles per hr. also I even bought a alternator and it was bad out of the box..

you, you are not a mechanic and yet you still try to be!
take it to a mechanic or keep on wasting money as you pay for your autotech education
how's that workin' out for ya?
at least a good mechanic would know what is wrong and apparently you don't. at what point did you think "i don't know what is wrong but let's buy an alternator". every bolt you took loose you did so knowing you did not know what is wrong...i don't pity you a bit...
