"The first time you buy a house you see how pretty the paint is and buy it. The second time you look to see if the basement has termites. It's the same with men." ~Lupe Velez

No, WOMAN, I don't agree, it doesn't matter if a guy has termites, unless you are "buying" a scarecrow and calling it a man.
I get the analogy part, just making a joke, not that I could pay the rent being a stand up comic.

Firstly, choosing a beautiful house does not mean it got good characteristic or values. Like buying a house, you want to make investment on it and you see that the house is very beautiful as you are truly overwhelmed by its beauty. Not knowing there is termites inside and the location is in the middle of nowhere. This is how an investment failed and how you do not truly understand the basis of buying a house!!
Beauty from the outside might not been the true value of a house in fact, the true value of a house depends on what that is held inside. For example, you can choose a modern looking unique house which is full a tech gadgets or a classic looking house with antique furniture on it. Most of the people perception may want to choose the modern type as the classic looking does look like old schools and the furniture is a bit dusty. Well, good luck to you as the tech gadgets are all made from China.
Second, it means that you don’t understand enough to compromise certain aspects or habit they have. No regrets as you choose the wrong house, you can always change a new one or try to get a house which held an intrinsic value that is hidden..

I think that's true with anything, except in relationships there is more at stake than just picking up and making a new "purchase." If you get hurt, then sure, you're going to be a little more careful the next time around. But the trick (and it's a big trick) is to not have a "next time around." If you work hard at a relationship--stick with it through good and bad--then you won't have to worry about termites in the basement.

Yeah... I think once I bought some place. It was really nice and tropical on the outside. Then, the basement had termite poop and bugs when I was checking it out...
I couldn't clean it out because there were no lights and I didn't have a flashlight or anything at that time...

It seems your looking in the wrong neighborhood.
It is on the inside that counts.
You seem old enough to know better, then again, I suppose that age is just a number.

I should start a business that provides a complete man inspection.
I can even provide "inspected certificates" which men can carry in their wallets.

It's ALSO the same with women. I won't deny men can be like that. But women can, too.
