toshiba makes the best quality laptop for a pc...
good parts never had a need to call customer service while i had it...price is in the mid range for the quality which is surpurb in my opinion

Sony is good but will cost you...

compaq/hp are hit and miss

dell is on the downslide currently

if all else fails go with a mac...the new mac book pro is pretty nifty...
g4 mac books and i books are quality machines... if you get a bad one its bad out the box...they don't suprize you with the crappiness it happens right away so you know to take it back for a better one...may cost you but its a good investment and will out last a pc laptop for many many years...

Hi! I got a Hewlett Packard about 5 months ago and love it. It was a good deal for a "fully loaded" machine. I have some friends that love their Dell's (watch out for the batteries). I used to have a Toshiba but it kept overheating.

Look for a machine with an AMD processer instead of an Intel ... they run cooler, use less power and are often less expensive.

Dell makes reasonably priced quality notebooks with quality dual-core processors for prices between 600-1000 dollars. The M1405 is a good model. Toshiba is also a quality brand, you can get a toshiba with a dual-core processor, 1 GB of memory and DVD-RW drive for around 700 dollars. Check my sources..

it particularly is a constructive equipment i do no longer understand proper to the graphix card nevertheless i'm no longer into ATI graphix in any respect, yet I recommend that for the reason that u'r gonna use vista as an OS that u atleast double up the RAM otherwise u'r no longer gonna use that processor ability in any respect yet all-in-all i think of it particularly is a constructive computing device if u'r no longer into hardcore gaming

will depend a lot on your budget - but acer laptops seem to be more reasonably priced than others.

also depends on what you want to do with it - unless you are running multimedia, and heavy duty graphics all the time and want to store hundreds of movies and thousands of songs, you can reduce the price by sticking to 40GB harddisc, 256 RAM and a celeron chip.

ACER computers are the top of the line and i use three of them after i had experience with compaq and a gateway. look at the price versus the ram.cpu speed.and battery life on laptops.and look at the warranty and support. u need two years of warranty support and upgrades.
