the FACTS are :
if you registered any personal information about your computer, usually when windows is new it will ask you to register to microsoft and put all personal information in, then if microsft have that IP they can retrieve that information because they are MICROSOFT but a regular person that doesnt know how to get to the extreme CANNOT retrieve anything and remember if something like that happens they can ONLY get information that YOU put at your own will.
Now that doesnt mean they cannot have a little fun with the IP, because if you're Yahoo chat room and voice chatting, they can cut you off with ease by sending malformed command to the assigned IP address and they can operate an IP FLOOD, most of the time could overwhelmed the connection and sucessfully drop the signal, but people dont really do that stuff anymore it's getting old. so dont worry to much IF the guy is not smart at this.

u need not worry about anyone having ur IP address...yahoo collects IP adress's ...some one may ping ur IP ...but nothing will happen to u...there is no need for worry...no one can find out nothing except maybe yahoo or ur IP...but no phone number's or anything like that ..u are good to go

Typically nothing will happen if someone knows your IP address. Unless they are smart and know what they are doing.
