ATTITUDE!
Thats probably a more simple answer than you expected, but yet, it is the most applicable. How a person perceives a problem and deals with it... i.e., their attitude, will determine whether they use that problem as an opportunity, or whine about it.
I have been a hard worker all my life... now I am disabled... I could take the "Why Me?" route so many have done in the past... but I chose instead, to still tackle the problems I can... That's why I am here on Yahoo! Answers... Here, I can use my knowledge of homes, and mobile homes, to help folks who have questions. I am more than happy to do so, because it helps me be useful, and still be able to contribute. I also have a good background in helping companies improve their production, quality, etc. and will be keeping an eye on the business questions, to see if I can be of any help there. I enjoy helping people where I can. I can no longer travel, but I can still help answer questions. Several folks have offered their thanks for taking the time to give such detailed answers...well, time is the one thing Ive got, lol...so, it helps me, and it helps them. What you would call a "Win/Win" situation eh?
Have fun!

If you mean in general, I guess that we would have to take a reoccurig problem, find the source and seize the opportunity to fix it.
If you were looking for examples, then here's one:
Every morning you wake-up late because you keep pressing the snooze button on your alarm; in effect missing breakfast, etc. You could take this daily re-occuring problem and turn it into the opportunity to eat a decent breakfast. One possible solution would be moving the alarm out of arms reach, to the other side of the room so that you would have to get up.
I believe the key in turning daily problems into opportunities lies in the ability to take a situation that seems negative and be able to find a positive solution, it would require some optimistic-thinking, but it can be done.

I Perceive life as one where we will always encounter problems, yet the one thing about those problems is that they teach me and those who are living the problems of the daily life a lesson. I take those lessons and I incorporate it into my goals and aspirations. Many people tend to let their problems affect them in a deep sense, instead of letting the problems they have encourage them to do better. To answer your question, I would simply say, see your problems as obstacle to prove if you really deserve whatever it is you are looking for.
