Is it because they cannot believe how dumb it is and so they have to *tuh* and respond to it, get some venom out of their systems?

Possibly the venom angle, but I think it has more to do with the relative superiority issue. You feel smarter answering the stupid questions than the smarter ones. It's like why we laugh when we see someone fall down. We subconciously feel superior to the person that falls down so we laugh or chuckle.

Smart questions require thinking and often lots of typing too. That turns off most people.

I think that most people don't have what it takes (mentally) to answer a smart question.
A smart questions shows intellect - I love them!

It's a cop out really, a sign of laziness.
Smart questions call for intellect, research and *gasps in mock horror* god forbid... using their "heads".

Most answer to get points... How many sensible answers have u read.. not many... and not too many sensible questions are asked that,s deserving of a decent answer..
