When I speak of Africa I speak of South and Central Africa. Northern Africa is very Arabic in culture and art.

Not a big fan personally. The art tends to be a bit sparse and primitive at times, other times way too busy. Carvings especially so in this area. I like art such as surealists, Fantasy, SciFi, landscapes, things like this. You do not find realistic paintings or statues in African art. Van Gogh is a realist compared to most African art. Color choices can be completley absent or are blinding and seemingly random in choice. Nothing inbetween it seems.

Musicially it's primitive but interesting. Similer actually to early music forms world wide but with slightly different instramentation.
Other than traditional tribal genres and an occasional rock band out of South Africa I am unaware of any other genres from the region.

Havn't read any books written by African writers. Far as I know there is no genre that has started there or is noted for African contributions.

No digital art that I am aware of.

Pottery has never appealed to me of any kind. So if it's a pot, it's a pot to me.

I am unaware of any sculpting from Africa. Wood and Ivory work yes, Marble sculptures no.

I am unaware of any architechture of significance. No Taj Mahal no Eifel tower, Cathedral of St. Basil or Bishop's Palace. No Castles, or monuments.

I think I covered the main forms of art. I am sure I've left one or two out. Anyway have not found an African art form that impressed me.

When I go to a museum, I have to find the historical African art section. Many of the wood and stone pieces have distinctively crafted marks on them and as my eye scans over the marks, I like to "feel" how they were made. For some reason, I don't have that same attention for other 3-d objects. Contemporary African art is becoming a global sensation and I'm sure more exhibitions, concerts, books, etc. will help the world to identify more critically with Africans in the near future.

Its interesting. I had an Art History class in college thats focus was African art. I wish I would have paid better attention. Its raw and represents the artist in that particular area.

What is African 'cultur'? Or are you being facetious, ironic or just stupid?
