Well, the Scion is made by Toyota, so the reset just might be like my '06 Toyota Highlander. On mine, you turn on the key and hold in the odometer reset button, just as you would to reset the trip odometer -- but you do it while the display is on the actual mileage, not the trip odometer. Then, turn the vehicle off and turn it back on again.
I finally found these instructions in the owner's manual, but it took some real lookin' before I found 'em.

Try pulling the dash fuse.

if its on..probably somethang wrong wit ur car...u probably due for annual car maintainence...u just dont reset cause it comes on...go to dealer and get it checked out..
