Not being either, but I do work for lawyers, I think it's all where you get your foot in. I suspect lawyers who work for your common, everyday people who need legal help make very little. Where's the money in helping a single mom keep her kids? But you get so much more from helping the public than money. I don't know for sure, but I think the attorneys I work for make good money, but they work for the insurance companies. All attorneys have to pay for continuing education, association dues, and fees to keep their licenses. I suspect electrical engineers make good money if they work for a viable ongoing concern. Their ideas are owned by their company, and it would take a lot of planning to venture off on your own to work for yourself. I'm certainly not the expert on making money, but I think it's more worthwhile to choose your career by what you love to do.

Hi,
According to salary.com the median salaries are:
Lawyer: $88,692
Electrical Engineer: $79,353
Although the average salary for a lawyer may be higher, remember that Lawyers must go to school for three years longer which both increase the cost of the education and decrease the number of years to earn income.
Also note there is a much larger standard deviation with incomes in lawyers than engineers Some lawyers work for very low wages while others have high paying corporate gigs, and fantastic lawyers can demand a premium price. On the otherhand, engineers are much more likely to have an salary near the mean.
Hope this helps,
Leo

Lawyers generally make much more than electrical engineers. I think lawyers start around $100k. Don't know about electrical engineers, but my guess is half of that.
